Self Important and Suicidal To Tell you the truth I'm a terrible liar Happier, Healthier, and in denial Like the crooked teeth in her crooked smile Hang your hopes on rusted hook and prepare yourself for the fall base your faith on old fashioned books wait for the flames to end it all To Tell you the truth is like suicide To tell you the truth I swear I tried Half hearted truths are just alibis

Bono Let’s build a monument to the inept So many artists, way too much art Empty chests wearing their heart On the worn out sleeves of dirty shirts Proclaiming their latest their greatest of works Trite and insipid and predictably dark Full of fictitious images to set you apart As burnt bridges crumble and start So many assholes such shitty art Another desert tries to be the sea I’ll tell you what man: You’re about as deep as fucking high school poetry Trite and insipid and predictably dark Full of fictitious images to set you apart As burnt bridges crumble and start So many artists, way too much art You used to think it was all in your head Through the fog I can barely see The ghosts of our past Floating on the sea Pale Facedown The dead drifting endlessly In an ocean of alcohol And bitter rivalry You’re everything you swore You would never be You still swallowed their poison.

Louicide 03:43
Louicide Never seen anyone so proud To be just another face in the crowd Never did figure out why you’re not around Never did figure out why I’m not around I’m underground even in the underground Just happier to be not around I think I got you pegged It’s rudimentary, a quarter century of watered down logic and self fashioned misery. HELP ME HELP ME So pale, so alive and decomposing Faceless in flames the smoke is rising To create black clouds in bright blue skies Ignorance is bliss and bloodshot eyes Ignorance is bliss through bloodshot eyes

about

Recorded at Second Story Sound by the incomparable Mike Bardzik

Fin

Fin was our last recording as a band and was named because we knew it was the end while we were recording it. It is my personal favorite and I feel like we finally achieved the sound we were reaching for the whole time...just in time to break up. On this recording we were able to meld the best lyrics I had written for us, solid songs with solid and angular riffs, and dive fully into the psychedelic textures and noises that we had previously dabbled in. The entire vision we always had but struggled to realize.

Perhaps we were a little premature to end the band over our fear of putting out subpar material (or worse, something akin to the endless bands we encountered on our travels that could hardly be told apart and all seemed to follow the same template, right down to a dress code, something we had hours and hours of fun mocking).

We felt we had run our course and done what we set out to do. And we were felt comfortable that each new release was not only better than the last but a genuine step forward.

Looking back on it, I feel like we were probably far from a creatively spent force and were the best we had ever been. We had only recently really achieved the sound that we spent years striving for and I regret not getting the chance to push it further. We were at a point where there was a certain musical telepathy between us and we were doing things I genuinely felt proud and interested in. One song on this EP (Thirsty) is for all intents and purposes just 11 minutes of rolling tape on us improvising every single note on the spot. It’s probably my favorite thing we ever did, and the chemistry we had was thrilling.

But then again maybe we would’ve ended up doing endless meandering “jams” or some hippie shit like that. So, we could’ve dodged a bullet also.

Anyway, titled Fin (like the end of a French art film...again mocking the idea of “art”) we released this as the best and final document of the band.

Count von Count proudly started in Delaware, circa 2003.

We released 4 EPs, 5 splits, a tour only comp, & a compilation of the out of print first two EPs.

Early, Justin Angeline played Bass and Pete Dawson played Bass for a time.

The final and definitive lineup consisted of Tom Ewing, Chris Haug, Mike Cummings, and Justin Vavala.

We’re committed to DIY/punk ethic, and happily lost money.
